Now that the Nokia N8 has shipped, the reviews that I have been anxiously anticipating are appearing faster than Google instant can display them. Not exactly, but most of them have hit the key points — good and bad — that I thought would.

Fire In Nokia’s Belly
It looks like the fire is being contained with the delay of the N8 but at least its burning. So now that the keynotes from Nokia World 2010 have sunken in — to pundits and fan boys alike — we know that Stephen Elop replaces Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo as CEO, Symbian ^3 is the new foundation, not even as much as a whisper of MeeGo and the better phones are the N8, E7 and surprisingly C6-01. Two of them touting ClearBlack Display or CBD. The questions is, which one do I want?
Engadget talks to Niklas Savander executive president and general manager of market units. He tells Engadget that Nokia will launch the N8 in the US but a carrier will be announced at a later date.
Speculating here but knowing Nokia and the fact that the N8 supports T-Mobile’s AWS 1700 band. Its probably a safe bet that the carrier will be T-Mobile. Nothing has been announced yet.
Being a a mobile phone junkie, I’m patiently awaiting the sale of Nokia’s next flagship device, the Nokia N8. More importantly I am waiting for user input on usability and performance to help me decide if this device will be my next mobile phone.
I tend to use these devices in such a demanding way that it is mandatory for a feature set of my strictest requirements be met. The potential of the N8 is there to be my all-in-one device. But as you may know, many of the long-time supporters like Ricky Cadden (Symbian-Guru.com) are now dropping Nokia/Symbian devices for Android based ones because of disappointing performance in previous flasgships like the Nokia N97. With any hope Nokia have learned their lesson and have corrected many of the issues.
I too, as a long time Nokia supporter am on the edge of dropping the brand all together and moving on. Possibly with an Android device as well. For now I’ll be crossing my fingers so stick around as I explore some of the features that I will be looking for and explain how I will be using them.
